Description

Everything you need in one quality underlay. This unique, three-in-one product offers improved sound-absorption, moisture protection and embossed self-levelling. It reduces hollow tapping noises, producing a sound that is very close to actual hardwood - and transmits less sound to adjacent rooms and rooms below. The pre-attached foil barrier makes it water proof and more tear resistant. This underlay is non-allergenic for a more comfortable home and is resistant to mould, mildew and bacteria growth. Easy to install with attached overlapping lip and tape and safe for underfloor heating, this underlay meets Quickstep warranty requirements.

Questions & Answers

How much deviation will the self levelling take up i.e. can this be laid on floors greater than +/-2mm

Asked by Alfie Barnes on 19 Jul 2018

1 Answer

Hi Alfie, we'd say that 3mm deviation in height across the surface is the absolute limit for all our floors.

Can this be used in a basement flat, floor is very in-level, and there was a previous problem with rising damp, will this protect the laminate if this problem happens again?

Asked by mike barton from cheltenham on 04 Mar 2018

1 Answer

Hi Mike, this underlay is well equipped to protect your floor against rising damp, however, we'd strongly recommend having the floor flat, level and clean before any installation.

Can the Quickstep Basic Plus underlay be used under sold wood flooring, laid on a wooden sub floor? Thank you.

Asked by John Lane from Forest of Dean on 25 Jan 2018

1 Answer

Hi John, we recommend that solid wood flooring should be nailed or glued to the subfloor, without an underlay. We've got a guide to installing solid wood flooring here: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/advice/solid-wood-flooring-installation

Hi I've ordered Quick step Exquisa laminate and you're supplying free Quick step Basic plus underlay. Will this be sufficient to use on a concrete floor, after removing ceramic floor tiles. I'm asking in case I need to pay and upgrade to a thicker underlay to allow for any rough area's once the tiles are up. Thanks

Asked by Elizabeth Dunn from Yorkshire on 17 Jan 2018

1 Answer

Hi Elizabeth, This underlay is suitable for concrete subfloors, but the surface would have to be flat, level and clean. In some cases, a concrete floor might need to be screeded to create a suitable surface.

Should this be laid foam (with logo) or foil side up? Advice in the Q&A on your website says this should be laid foam (with logo) facing up. However this contradicts the instructions that came with the underlay, which say it should be laid with Logo facing DOWN. This is also the way the underlay rolls out. So I'm confused. photo of instructions: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CDcaHsRFXVlw2Zi-KoN8pQywe99NiBxmFQ/view?usp=sharing

Asked by Jeff Stanway from London on 20 Nov 2017

1 Answer

Hi Jeff, any underlay with a DPM has to be laid the same way - that's with the DPM layer facing down. The DPM layer protects the foam layer from moisture rising from below. Often manufacturers will roll the underlay in that way to help it lie flat and not lift up at the edges. We'll talk to Quickstep about the instructions they include with the underlay, as it looks like they need updating. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Is the foil suitable for underfloor heating? is it efficient for transmitting heat? Thamk you

Asked by adina morgovan on 03 Oct 2017

1 Answer

Hi Adina, whilst this underlay is safe to use with underfloor heating, it will insulate a lot of the heat, making it less efficient. We do have an alternative, however, which is designed to specifically be used with underfloor heating, which you can find here: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/product/18591/quickstep_lvt_heat_underlay

We just noticed that the underlay has been put down with the wrong side up. Is that a problem? What is the difference between the two sides? We have Quickstep Eligna on a concrete floor, three rooms of seven to go.

Asked by Petra on 02 Aug 2017

1 Answer

Hi Petra, the direction of the underlay is very important, I'm afraid. The floors you've laid may be okay, but if moisture rises from below it could spoilt the foam in the underlay, which would then need replacing.

Do you need tape to cover joins

Asked by Keith Williams on 17 Mar 2017

1 Answer

Hi Keith, taping over the joints is definitely recommended, although a lot of installations go ahead without it.

as I can see somebody has asked the question what side do you lay this underlay , does the foil go to the floor and the logo faces you from the floor , it does not roll out this way

Asked by nick pring from newport on 28 Jan 2017

1 Answer

Hi Nick, This is correct, the underlay should be laid out with the logo on top side.

we have ordered the free basic underlay with a 7mm laminate from quickstep. My floorboards have some gaps of up to 3 mm but otherwise very level. if I fill the gaps with filler, do I need to lay down soft boards?

Asked by jan soetaert on 26 Feb 2016

1 Answer

Hi Jan, We'd recommend using Natura Fibreboard for extra support, which can be found here: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/product/18341/fibre_board_underlay_10_03_pack_size

Should the foil on the underlay be showing or should it be the other way up

Asked by Alan southard from Swansea on 26 Nov 2015

1 Answer

Hi Alan, Good question - put simply, you should see the Quickstep logo facing you (as it is in the picture).

Will this underlay be suitable for my hallway which starts off as wooden but then changes into concrete? !!

Asked by Melanie Bennett on 13 Oct 2015

1 Answer

Yes not a problem. The sub floor can be any type but it does need to be dry, flat, even and load-barring.

Is this underlay suitable for a bathroom with quickstep vinyl floor?

Asked by Paul Ashley from Oxford on 09 Sep 2015

1 Answer

Good Morning No this product is designed to be used with the Quickstep laminate floors. This product is a LVT and Quickstep recommend these underlays which you can view here: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/floor-accessories?brand=quickstep&floor-type=vinyl&accessory-type=underlay

Is this underlay suitable for concrete floors

Asked by IAN SMITH from GRETNA on 10 May 2015

1 Answer

Good Morning 100% suitable and the best product to use.

Can I use this underlay on the wooden sub-floor in the bedrooms which are in the first floor? I was adviced to use the fibreboard underlay for sub-wooden floors. What is the difference the Quickstep Uniclic Plus Underlay will make instead of fibreboards?

Asked by Dunsten from Leicester on 05 May 2015

1 Answer

Firstly both product are 100% suitable. If you have an uneven subfloor the softboard helps with leveling the flooring (the Uniclic doesn't) The soft board also has better insulation & acoustic properties.

We are intending to buy some quickstep flooring from yourselves. This products come free. We have had a local firm quite for same laminate but they have quoted for underlay which is DPM since it is due to go on a concrete floor extension with a "gold" backing since it has thermal properties. This is free product Ok for requirements and do you have any underlay with thermal properties attached.

Asked by Angela from Sheffield on 05 Sep 2014

1 Answer

The Combifloor Plus does have a DPM so is perfect for concrete floors. Quickstep do offer many types of underlay some with better thermal properties but I suggest the free one is the best for most installations. If you were interested in the other types you can research them here: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/floor-accessories?brand=quickstep&accessory-type=underlay

Can this be used on concrete floor and with any brand of laminate, not just quickstep?

Asked by Sue on 19 May 2014

1 Answer

Quickstep Combifloor Plus underlay can also be used with other laminate floors however, check to make sure that the warranty from that specific manufacturer will be covered.

Does this underlay has some thermal insulation properties? Meaning to be suitable for a laminate floor in a room above garage. Garage without heating.

Asked by James on 28 Feb 2014

1 Answer

James, Thank you for your question. We do not specify tog ratings on any of our underlays so unfortunately do not have facts and figures about the thermal qualities of this particular underlay. All we can say is that this underlay can be used above a garage without heating however, if you are concerned about the thermal qualities a thicker underlay such as the Quickstep softboard may give a better thermal barrier.
