Description

The perfect choice for installation on top of an existing tiled floor or an uneven floor. If you are worried about the subfloor being uneven, this is the best underlay in the Quickstep range to use. Quickstep Thermolevel also provides extra insulation so you don't have to worry about it. Also attached is a damp proof layer so no additional surface dpm is required, just lay this first and install your new floor on top!

Questions & Answers

Hello. Can this be used with Polyflor expona encore rigid loc flooring? It will be laid on a wooden floor which is quite uneven and cold.

Asked by Ben Cowley on 04 May 2021

1 Answer

Hi there. The polyflor encore range has a pre-attached underlay, which is designed for uneven subfloors. If your subfloor is quite uneven and you're worried, we would recommend plying beforehand.

Hi! Could you tell me the density of this, please?

Asked by Dmitriy Ermakov from Russia on 08 Mar 2021

1 Answer

Can this be cut and fitted using only a knife? How difficult to install compared to basic foam underlay?

Asked by Matthew Thomson from LARBERT on 27 Apr 2020

1 Answer

This can just be cut with a knife, and is straightforward to fit.

Can this underlay be used directly onto existing floorboards?

Asked by Abigail Shepherd on 25 Feb 2019

1 Answer

Hi there, This can be laid onto existing subfloors, even those that are minimally uneven as it is designed to help level it out.

We're looking at the Quickstep Saw Cut grey oak for use throughout our Hall, Dining room and Conservatory. The hall and dining room are concrete floors and relatively level although we're hoping this Thermo level over comes that, but the conservatory is tile. Is this product suitable for use in the conservatory as the impressive range is so we need something to match and be covered by warranty? Also would this underlay give a solid feel to the floor and not a bouncy feel as we've had using previous laminate and underlay (different supplier)

Asked by Damon Piall on 28 Sep 2018

1 Answer

The thermolevel is made for use on top of tiled subfloors, so it will work fine in the conservatory. It isn’t a particularly bouncy underlay, so it should feel rigid underfoot. If you need any further assistance please drop us an email to sales@flooringsupplies.co.uk or give us a call on 0800 999 810 and one of our team will be happy to help.

Is this underlay suitable for use with solid wood flooring such as bamboo?

Asked by sarah long on 13 May 2018

1 Answer

Hi Sarah, this underlay is designed for use with laminate flooring - almost all solid wood floors are attached directly to the subfloor, without an underlay

Hi - does this underlay also provide any sound proofing? Thanks

Asked by Louise from London on 30 Apr 2018

1 Answer

Hi Louise, it certainly does. You can read a little more in the data sheet, here: https://static.flooringsupplies.co.uk/downloads/New%20Downloads/Datasheets/TDS%20QS%20Thermolevel%20-%20EN.pdf

Hi, I will be buying some quickstep thermolevel underlay for my very cold concrete kitchen floor . Would it be adviseable to put a dpm down also ? If so what thickness ? Thanks

Asked by Pauline Crowther from Norfolk on 23 Dec 2017

1 Answer

Hi Pauline, this underlay has a built-in DPM, so it sounds like the perfect choice for your kitchen.

Hi, can I use two different layers underneath a laminate flooring? I have a wooden subfloor in most of the house and 2 rooms with a concrete subfloor. Both seem quite uneven. Can I use The Thermolevel underlay on top of a cheaper 2mm underlay so that I have a thicker result? And also: can I use this underneath a Pergo Coastal oak laminate? Thanks

Asked by ILEANA POP from Weston-super-Mare on 13 Apr 2017

1 Answer

Hi Ileana, We wouldn't recommend this, as it could cause your floor to become bouncy, which would lead to problems later down the line. Instead, we'd recommend levelling the subfloor first with hardboard or screed, and then installing a single underlay over the top.

hi I have used basic quickstep foam underlay before but found it cold. is this a better option for insulation on a concrete floor?

Asked by zandra Tomkinson from Ms on 16 Mar 2017

1 Answer

Hi Zandra This product is a much better option for insulation.

Hi, how uneven can the subfloor be with this product? ie mm per m. Thanks Luke.

Asked by Luke townsend from Huntingdon on 04 Dec 2016

1 Answer

Hi Luke, For the best results we recommend that subfloors don't deviate by more than 3mm over 1m.

Is the thermolevel underlay a good option for a concrete floor and as it is a ground floor, do you think we should use soft board and screen under the underlay? Will the thermolevel be warm enough on its own.

Asked by Christopher Vivian from Harrow on 18 Feb 2016

1 Answer

Hi Christopher, Any extra layers and weight will improve thermal insulation, but most customers will just use this on its own. There's no reason why you can't use both, so it's up to you, really!

Hi - can you tell me the R Value for this product? Thanks.

Asked by J Cook on 18 Jan 2016

1 Answer

Hi, The R value for this underlay is 0.143 m²K/W. Thanks

Do I need to tape the joins ? If so what tape do you recommend ?

Asked by John Culley from harwich on 05 Jan 2016

1 Answer

Hi John, Yes, whilst not everybody does it, the official recommendation is to tape the joins. Any waterproof cloth tape (like Gaffer Tape) will work.

Hi, looking to install the impresive range on a suspended ground floor. This would be great for levelling, but is it compatble with underfloor heating? many thnaks Tristan

Asked by Tristan Davis from Surrey on 09 Dec 2015

1 Answer

Hi Tristan, Here's a link to the Quickstep underlay we'd recommend you use with Underfloor Heating: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/product/16117/quickstep_silent_walk_underlay

Hello, does this type of underlay require an expansion gap to be left? Or does it need to butt up to the wall?

Asked by Chris Bouwers on 12 Nov 2015

1 Answer

Good Afternoon Butted up against the wall will be fine.

Can this be placed on top of the Basic Plus Underlay to give an extra layer of insulation?

Asked by Tim Ottewell on 06 Nov 2015

1 Answer

Good Afternoon Unfortunately not. Each underlay from Quickstep must be used independently from each other.

Can Quickstep Thermolevel underlay be used instead of Unisound Combifloor underlay for Engineered flooring given anticipated uneven state of subfloor once existing solid flooring is removed?

Asked by Mark Evans from Wales on 26 Aug 2015

1 Answer

Good Afternoon The direct replacement for Unisound (which has been discontinued) is Silent Walk: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/product/16117/quickstep_silent_walk_underlay You can of course use the Thermolevel level but they have differnet job.

Hi can this be used as a vinyl floor underlay too please?

Asked by dave on 10 Aug 2015

1 Answer

Good Afternoon. I'm afraid not, this product is designed for Quickstep laminate flooring only.
