Questions & Answers

What is the thickness of your engineered flooring? Do you make a 14mm?

Asked by Janet Buncombe on 28 Apr 2023

1 Answer

Hi Janet, Thank you for your enquiry. We can confirm that we do offer a whole host of 14mm engineered wood floors. You can select these on the website through the options down the left-hand side. If you are particularly interested in the look of the Oak Brooklyn, we do have a product called Oak Kerry that on the surface looks identical and is 14mm thick, please see the link below; https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/product/5589/natura_oak_kerry_engineered_wood_flooring_extra_long_board_2_2mtrs We hope this information has been useful however, do please call us on 0800 999 8100 should you require any further information. Kind regards, Flooringsupplies.co.uk

Is the base layer of this flooring plywood or MDF?

Asked by Simon Lucas from Warwickshire on 14 Jun 2019

1 Answer

Hi Simon, The core layer and the header joints of this board are HDF

Is the colour of the flooring the same as what is shown in the small photograph.thanking you for trouble dave

Asked by Mr david pearson from Swindon wiltshire19dpearson@gmail.com on 10 Mar 2019

1 Answer

Hi Dave, Thanks for your question. This is a natural oak floor with a fair amount of variation so every board will be slightly different to the next. It's hard to get a good idea through a computer screen as everyone's screen resolution etc. is different. I would suggest ordering a free sample of the product to get a better idea of the colour.

Hi i see in the reviews for the natura oak brooklyn boards that a minority of customers received warped boards. I assume that if a board is warped in any way you guys would replace it at no extra cost? Thanks

Asked by Miguel rios from Norwich on 06 Dec 2016

1 Answer

Hi Miguel, Sometimes any wooden board can arrive bowed - this is because of moisture levels in the wood and is a very natural feature. The good news is that in almost all cases, the floor can be laid without any problem. All you do is make sure to stagger the joints (which most people do anyway). However, if any of the boards are unusable then yes, of course we would send out replacements free of charge.

Is this suitable to be fitted on stairs and do you supply a matching nosing to make this possible for the Natural Oak Brooklyn?

Asked by Kevin Toms from PENZANCE on 12 Apr 2016

1 Answer

Hi Kevin This is possible but would require a skilled carpenter as the nosing is not a perfect fit. here is a link to the nosing... https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/product/14957/natura_solid_oak_stairnosing_with_locking_joint_lacquered__1m_length

Is this product suitable for pubs/restaurants

Asked by Richard from Newcastle on 12 Oct 2015

1 Answer

Yes and will perform well but we do have other products of a very similar style and design which will last longer of time for only a small additional cost: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/engineered-wood-flooring?style=3-strip&colour=medium

Hiya, could you please tell me the wear resistance (AC grade) of this floor? Thank you!

Asked by Ulrich Wagner on 22 Mar 2015

1 Answer

Good Morning Ulrich The AC grade you're referring to is a grading system for laminate flooring only. This product is a realwood timber flooring so its not really relevant. However, there are some stats I can give you if it helps: Impact Resistance STN 492120 - Max 1mm Abrassion Class EN 14354 -1500 revolutions Slipperiness EN 14342:2005+A1:2008 and CEN/TS 15676:2007 Varnished Surface Water Resistance EN 13422 - Without Visual Change

What underlay is needed for underfloor heating ?

Asked by Bill Freebury from Arlingham Gloucestershire on 13 Jan 2015

1 Answer

There are a few underlays that can be used but the essential point is that you will need a Damp Proof Membrane in between the finished Underfloor Heating System and the engineered wood floor. The choices are; 1. Using the Quickstep DPM along with the Paperfelt underlay. These are very thin products so your subfloor has to be very even. 2. Natura Bronze Underlay, this has a built in DPM and being 2.5mm can overcome slight imperfections in the floor as long the floor does not deviate more than 3mm in a 2m area (always refer to the installation instructions). 3. Natura Silver Underlay. 4. Natura Gold underlay. All these can be used remembering that the thicker the underlay the more heat will be lost but all the above can be used. For further information in relation to engineered wood flooring please use the following link; https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/advice/which-floors-can-you-use-with-underfloor-heating

Would a desk chair with casters be ok on this flooring type?

Asked by Jane Kirman from Norfolk on 02 Jan 2015

1 Answer

Hi there We recommend the use of a suitable plastic floor cover when chairs with castors are used, because the continued rolling over the same area could mean the floors finish is worn quicker than normal.

Just wondering how the warranty works, who to contact and if it includes surface damage or has to be an entire section that needs replacing for the warranty to be effective.

Asked by Michelle Hall on 03 Feb 2014

1 Answer

Manufacturer warranties cover the engineering of a board. This would include the locking mechanism and the adhesion of the veneer as long as the correct installation methods and maintenance advice are followed. Wooden floors will scratch mark and dent which is something that a warranty will not cover. Tips such as using coir entrance matting and felt floor protectors on furniture feet will add to the protection of your floor keeping it looking fantastic for longer.

Is this product suitable to be layed straight onto cellotex insulation sheets- ie with no battons?

Asked by Annie from Devon on 26 Jan 2014

1 Answer

There are many varieties of cellotext, all with different specifications so that's a difficult question to answer really. The rules regarding subfloor suitability are quite simple: The subfloor need to be dry, flat, even and load-barring. If you prepare your subfloor to meet with these 4 simple rules you're good to go!

Is this floor suitable for kitchen areas...do you have a13m engineered 3 strip european oak flooring or is this the closest to it? Thanks.

Asked by angela gilley from hampshire on 15 Sep 2013

1 Answer

Heres a little more info for you to help with your research: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/advice/kitchen-flooring We don't have a 13mm engineered floor at the moment but do have many many 14 or 15mm options from both Kahrs and nätura if this is of interest? Heres a link to them ok https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/engineered-wood-flooring/oak/3-strip
