First time

First time we attempted this type of flooring it took a bit of planning before we laid it but really think the finish is great just need to decide the finish to wax or vanish

Prompt delivery of parquet flooring …

Prompt delivery of parquet flooring blocks, really impressed with the quality of the flooring...fitting almost complete and looks amazing! Staff very helpful and professional when I called to arrange a few extra packs that were needed. Only challenge was carrying it all up the drive when delivered as can only drop to kerb. Overall great quality, price and service.

Absolutely fantastic service and the product is even better!! I phoned for help and advice which I got in abundance and with such great pricing I got the floor of my dreams which came in £200 cheaper than my budget!! I will add this was for solid oak parquet flooring NOT engineered wood, how great is that?? I'm so happy, thank you!!

Lovely quality flooring

I am really pleased with the quality of this flooring. It looks lovely on our hall.

By Kelly Fleming from Welling on 10 Jan 2014

First class service, the product was really good quality, good grained oak, no knots or waste well pleased. If needs arose, would certainly purchase further products, The products sold in major diy stores, are paled into insignificance by this high quality flooring.

does the natura rustic oak parquet come ready to lay or does it have to be aclimatised

Asked by Karen Auld from Croydon on 04 Jul 2017

1 Answer

Hi Karen, this floor is made from solid wood, so takes up to 14 days to acclimatise to your home. We've got a little more info on this here:

Notice some flooring suppliers give you wear level (typically 4-6mm) as well as overall board thickness. Depending on wear and tear this gives you a view of how many times you sand the boards over the years. Can you provide this figure or point me to where I can find it ?

Asked by Umesh Patel from Leicester on 09 May 2017

1 Answer

Hi Umesh, we list the thickness of the wear layer as well as the floor as a whole in the "Specification" section on the right hand side of each product page. In the case of this floor, each block is 22mm thick, and it's solid wood flooring, which is sand-able all the way through.

Would floating installation be suitable for the flooring? I would need to install acoustic underlay on top of the wood plank subfloor before installing the new parquet floor.

Asked by Alma Wang on 08 Feb 2017

1 Answer

Hi Alma, this is a solid wood floor, which isn't suitable for using with underlays - it should be glued directly onto the subfloor. Luckily, though, almost all of our other parquet floors are made from engineered wood, which will be perfect for you.

Is this product FSC certified?

Asked by Antony Iredale on 01 Jan 2017

1 Answer

Hi Antony, this isn't one of our FSC certified floors. Here's a selection of floors which are FSC certified:,engineered,parquet/fsc-status=fsc-100-percent,fsc-mixed

I am planning on levelling the floor before installing, i have two questions: What is the maximum gradient on which a floor can be laid? Can i glue this floor onto fibreboard (backerboard) or foam?

Asked by Samuel Lamb from Oxford on 23 Dec 2016

1 Answer

Hi Samuel, We recommend that a subfloor be flat and level, with less than 3mm difference in height over a 1m area. Parquet floors should be glue directly onto the subfloor, and not onto an underlay.

Hi, I am looking to purchase Natura Oak Rustic parquet flooring to install in our lounge. Our lounge floor has a thick chipboard base and I need to know what adhesive to bond the parquet blocks to the chipboard. Products Q&As mentions this adhesive, But I am unsure of what bonding agent would be best suited for my project. Could you please advise me on which adhesive woud be best to use.

Asked by Aaron Lewis from Halstead, Essex on 11 Oct 2016

1 Answer

Hi Aaron, that adhesive should work perfectly with a chipboard base.

What type of adhesive do I need to order with this flooring and are any other accoutrements required.

Asked by Beryl McLaren from London on 04 May 2016

1 Answer

Is this flooring suitable to be laid on floor tiles or is a sealant needed first?

Asked by Paula Kedward from Taunton on 17 Jan 2016

1 Answer

Hi Paula, What would be best is if you could remove the old tiles first then prepare the floor from scratch - that's going to give you the best surface and the most secure floor. At the very least the floor will need to be screened before you install the new floor. If you're in doubt we'd recommend consulting a professional floor fitter, just to be sure.

Hi. Just installed the flooring and I'm due to sand it this weekend. How often should i sand it and with what grade of sandpaper before applying a finish? Which direction should I sand in? Thanks

Asked by Jonathan Mills on 17 Nov 2015

1 Answer

Hi Jonathan, After the initial sand most people leave it for many years before even thinking about redoing it. Remember to fill any gaps with glue and sawdust, too! As for the grade, I’m afraid that depends on the equipment you’re using, but just bear in mind that you’re aiming for an even, smooth surface before you apply the finish.

We would like to achieve the same look as in the picture. What finish was applied to this floor in the picture. Do you also sell it? Thanks, Y

Asked by Yana from London on 08 Sep 2015

1 Answer

Good Morning The finish on the picture is a hard wax oil finish (which we don't sell I'm afraid) but is of a flooring which is a few years old.. You would get the same or very similar look with most oils or matt lacquers though but as we're not finishing experts you may need to talk with you fitter who I'm sure could help you achieve this look.

In what condition does this item arrive - do these boards require sanding immediately after installation or are they supplied as bare timber ready to stain. I understand that I will need to sand them down and re-stain later in life.

Asked by Stuart Taylor on 11 May 2015

1 Answer

Morning All traditional solid parquet blocks need a light sanding after installation with then a finish applied after. However we do offer a more modern alternative which is finished so requires nothing after installation (except maybe the oiled version) So some of these might work for you as an alternative:

Hello, I just wanted to check that these floorboards can be made a much darker shade of brown by using a dark lacquer? Or will they just be like in the picture?

Asked by Steve Wandless on 20 Jan 2015

1 Answer

This product is a solid Oak Parquet block so yes 100% it can be stained darker or lighter after installation.

Does this flooring need to be sanded after it has been laid? We would like to avoid sanding if isn't necessary.

Asked by Claire on 26 May 2014

1 Answer

unfortunately yes it does and after sanding it also needs finishing. So if you're looking for a product with this style and design then this product (which is all finished for you) might be a better solution:

Is this product suitable to be laid over warm water underfloor heating?

Asked by Stuart ONeill from London on 27 Feb 2014

1 Answer

No its not I'm afraid as we do not recommend solid wooden flooring with under floor heating systems. There is an alternative though which I have linked for you here:

Is this product suitable for underfloor electric heating?

Asked by Ian Wilson from Leeds on 27 Feb 2014

1 Answer

No its not I'm afraid as we do not recommend solid wooden flooring with under floor heating systems. There is an alternative though which I have linked for you here:

Is this product suitable for use in a kitchen?

Asked by Ian Wilson from Leeds on 26 Feb 2014

1 Answer

Yes provided you install it correctly, look after the flooring properly and finish with a lacquer option (We don't recommended Oiled finished for Kitchens) Here' a little more info for you:

I have been advised not to install a normal solid wood floor in my lounge, because I have a wood burning stove and have been told the boards may warp. Does the same apply to parquet? I love the look of this floor and would like to use solid over engineered if possible.

Asked by Kiera on 05 Jan 2014

1 Answer

All wood flooring be it solid or engineered needs to be installed in an environment that is stable for the product. Solid wood floorin (parquet or strip) relative humidity needs to be between 40% and 65%. Most homes within the UK fall between this very comfortably without any need to control the environment. However, the advice you've been given is correct. If you have a wood burn as your main soucre of heating this can effect the relative humidity by taking all the moisture out of the local environment. However, there are ways to control this. In most cases a humifify is used to either remove excess moisture or replace it.
