Prime oak Parquet

I have laid around 140 meters plus, prouduct is superb, the finish and accuracy of the blocks was excellent. In the entire packs I had perhaps 2 or 3 blocks with errors, usally a little short. This is ok if itr is part of the work in progress, you can knock it out and replace but if one was left at the end of a session it would cause an issue. Worth as you finish for the day, just running a striaght edge up the edges, just to be sure the are all lined up, but great product that gives fantastic look when complete.

Hi Alex, yes it has

Hi, can the prime oak parquet be nailed rather than glued down? Also, does the gap need to be filled after install? Thank you so much.

Asked by Ryan on 19 Feb 2017

1 Answer

Hi Ryan, This floor isn't suitable for nailing. If you'd like to avoid gluing we'd recommend one of our engineered parquet floors.

Hi, How long should these blocks be left in the room they are to be laid in to acclimatise before laying? Thank you!

Asked by Carly Elliott from Essex on 01 Nov 2016

1 Answer

Hi Carly, Solid wood floor should acclimatise for 14 days before installation. We've got a quick guide to the process here:

Hello! I want to put the same flooring through my hallway, living area and kitchen. Would love this flooring but it doesn't show the icons which means I can place it in the kitchen - why is it not suitable? Am wondering if it is just because it is solid wood ? But would it still be okay to lay in kitchen? Thanks!

Asked by Rachel clews from Scotland on 24 Mar 2016

1 Answer

Hi Rachel, Yes, you're right, it's just that we don't recommend using solid wood floors in the kitchen. Here's a link to our guide to Kitchen Flooring:

Can I lay parquet blocks over wooden floorboards? If yes, what type of underlay should I use?

Asked by Ralph Drouin from Somerset on 23 Aug 2015

1 Answer

Solid Parquet blocks need to be glue to a subfloor so no underlay is required. Installing a real parquet block flooring takes a great deal of skill and expertise. I would recommend DIY it even if you're a good DIY're or even expert DIY're.

Can it be used with underfloor heating?

Asked by Steve on 08 Mar 2015

1 Answer

Unfortunately we do not recommend any solid wooden flooring with UFS. However, as an alternative these parquet engineered floors are 100% suitable.

Do these blocks have a tongue and groove and if so are the two required configurations supplied for a herringbone pattern?

Asked by Steve on 01 Nov 2014

1 Answer

Our solid parquet flooring is designed so that many patterns can be laid using these blocks, a herringbone deign is one of them. The blocks themselves have a T&G on the long side only, the short ends have a groove, this allows for the herringbone patter to be reproduced.

Does it need to be sanded or varnished or polished? What would you recommend? You say it is 'stick down' how does that work?

Asked by Katie from London on 08 Nov 2013

1 Answer

As a traditional solid wood parquet it it is recommended that sanding and finishing is done after installation. For finishing recommendation that is entirely up to you but personally I like a matt lacquer options with a tint of a darker stain to give that older look. You do need to glue down this floor and here's how to do it:

how easy to instal?

Asked by linda on 14 Oct 2013

1 Answer

Very difficult question to answer really as it all depends on the skills of the DIY'er. However, all in all i would say the solid parquet is more suited towards a professional installation. Particularly if you're installing this floor with a design like Herringbone or Amsterdam design.

Is this suitable for conservatories and bathrooms?

Asked by Jones on 15 Sep 2013

1 Answer

I'm sorry but we do not recommend solid wood flooring for conservatories. Bathrooms yes but again you have to be careful about the moisture. As an alternative to this product you could look at our engineered parquet which is perfect for both areas: Samples available FOC as normal
