Questions & Answers

What oil is recommended as its a confusing market with the varieties! Satin, Clear, Matt, Laquered...etc! If I wish to keep it to its original look. Which type of oil would best ?

Asked by S.K from London on 19 Jun 2015

1 Answer

Good Morning This is the prefect product suitable for this product the day you buy it and when re-oiling is required annually: https://www.flooringsupplies.co.uk/accessories/15030/natura_maintenance_oil_for_uv_oiled_floors

Hi, it says on 'Finish' when highlighted '?' 'Matt in appearance gives a natural look and feel. This floor has a brushed textured surface before being finished which accentuates the grain of the wood while the oiled effect keeps the floor as nature intended. We recommend re-oiling immediately after installation.' The last bit about re-oiling immediately ? Could you please explain more please! From reading it seems to be saying once floor is laid down from unpacking to laying out. It then must be re-oiled again immediately ? Is this floor not already oiled ?

Asked by Saty Kalsi from london on 18 Jun 2015

Morning Here's the manufacturers guide for maintaining this product: http://www.barlinek.com.pl/en/care/self-care/1795,renowacje-1003.html

It says that re-oiling is recommended after installing this floor ! Why ? How ? With What Product ? How many times can this floor be sanded down if Veer 2.5mm thick ?

Asked by Saty from London on 15 Jun 2015

1 Answer

Good Morning Why? It helps in everyday care and reinforces the floors resistance. http://www.barlinek.com.pl/en/care/self-care/1795,renowacje-1003.html How? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntpy_4Td3rk When? Used once or twice a year, depending on the level of dirtiness, to restore and protect when the floor becomes grey and matt. Sanding? It all depends on how hard you sand it really, but x2 is the norm (ish)

Could I apply another coat of oil to this product to make it slightly darker?

Asked by P Sutton from Nottingham on 16 Oct 2013

1 Answer

Absolutely as their are many flooring oils in the market place which have tints or colours within them. What I would suggest is to order a FREE sample of the product and get some oils (B&Q or Homebase) which you believe work for you and do some testing before you buy anything.
