Description

Polyflor Colonia Nordic White Oak 4436 Vinyl Flooring fuses the characteristics of Scandinavian timber and bleached or painted floorboards with the performance of a hardwearing and practical floorcovering. The current demands for white and grey woods are perfectly matched by this large format plank, which features authentically detailed graining and an embossed surface texture. In the second image the floor is Installed in a block wood pattern. The third image is a Naval plank or ships decking effect, inlaid with Graphite Grouting Strip.

Hi there, Can this floor be laid on brand new chipboard flooring without an underlay? If we did go for an underlay what would adding a ply wood underlay achieve? Less noise beneath? Also can this be laid directly up to existing skirting boards without the need for beading around the edge? Do you need to add a sealant to the edges? Thanks

Hi Liz, This can be laid on a new chipboard flooring, as long as it is flat, dry and even. You don't need an additional underlay, however if the chipboard isn't completely even, you will get a better fit from adding ply underneath. This can be laid up to an existing skirting, but you can add beading if you like. With the sealant, if you want the floor to be completely waterproof we would recommend sealing the edges, but if not in a high moisture room (eg. bathroom), you shouldn't need to seal it.

Is the Nordic White Oak available as Parquet?

Hi Stephen, absolutely, but it will need to be individually cut to size, which is £12msq and can take up to 10 weeks to create. If you're after this, just give us a call and we'll arrange it for you.

Hi Pascaline, Whilst this floor is fine to be used with underfloor heating, it doesn't offer a commercial warranty.

In picture three there is a gap between each plank laid. How have you achieved this look? And what material is it in between each plank?

Hello flooring supplies, Can the Colonia tiles be glued directly to chipboard floor without the need for ply underlay? The chipboard sub flooring in my flat is in very good condition however it is a bit squeaky. Will a ply board underlay reduce the audible squeak from the floor boards? regards Jamie

Hi Jamie, Yes, this floor can be installed without an underlay. An underlay might muffle the squeaking from the subfloor, but you'll need to get a professional to look at it if you want to get rid of the squeaking altogether. What adhesive do you recommend with colonia white oak?

Our house is by the sea and we want to create a nautical feel to the bathroom - can the flooring be wall hung and used in place of ceramic tiles around the bath/shower please?

Hi Trevor, We've not seen this done before, but providing you use an Epoxy adhesive to secure the tiles, there's no reason why it wouldn't work. We'd love to see the results once it's finished!

Hi, I currently have carpet but have been recommended the vinyl tiles. My floorboards are draughty as its an old house. Would the fitter have to put underlay or plywood over the top of the floorboards before fitting? Thanks

Good Afternoon A dry, flat, even and load barring subfloor is required before installation of this type of flooring. So based on what you've told me I would plyboard the area first then screed over the joints to give you the perfect installation subfloor. Morning Samantha. It depends on the condition of the subfloor really. The rules are you need a dry, flat and even subfloor. So if you have a concrete floor which is a little rough or with peaks and troughs then yes you'll need to screed it first. Hope this helps.

In short yes both stand up to this type of wear and tear but there are different qualities (and prices) from both manufacturers. So be careful when you're comparing products and make sure that you're looking at like for like, if that makes sense.
