Wood Herringbone Flooring

Herringbone wood flooring is a type of parquet flooring that can be used to make a statement. This popular floor pattern is made by planks that are cut and laid at an angle to make a zig zag shaped pattern. You can use this in most rooms in your home such as living rooms, hallways or dining rooms to bring character into the room. Although it may seem that Herringbone is a 'busy' pattern, it is the perfect design for those small, narrow spaces. Because the eye is drawn to the wide part of the herringbone, the patterns conjure an optical illusion that enhances the space and makes the room look visually larger.

To see a Herringbone wood floor for yourself, use our Room Visualizer Tool or to find out whether a wood herringbone floor is what your home needs, read our Parquet Floor Suitability Guide.

Why Choose Herringbone Wood Flooring

All of our Herringbone wood floors are made with engineered wood. This means that they consist of plywood layers glued on top of each other with a layer of real wood on top. Some other benefits of our engineered wood herringbone flooring include:

  • Durable and hard-wearing - all of our wood herringbone is capable of handling the pressure of high foot traffic.
  • Versatile - our engineered wood herringbone flooring offers a range of styles and flooring finishes including matt finish, natural oil finish and unfinished parquet.
  • Simple and Easy to install - all of our engineered herringbone floorings is installed using a variety of locking systems, making installation straightforward. You can use our Engineered Parquet Installation Guideto fit a herringbone floor for yourself.

Herringbone Wood Styles

Our herringbone wood comes in a variety of colours, whilst keeping the character of a traditional oak Herringbone floor. A light herringbone wood floor brings brightness into your room whilst adding a modern look to a classic style, to get this effect, our white oak herringbone is the perfect option. If you are after a more traditional look, our dark wood Herringbone floor is the ideal choice to bring that cosy feel to your home alongside the natural style of the oak. Visit our inspiration centre to discover the many styles of herringbone wood flooring.

Wood Herringbone Flooring Room Suitability

Our wood herringbone flooring is suitable for most rooms, working great in living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, conservatories and even basements. If you're prone to cold feet, don't worry, as our engineered wood herringbone is suitable to use with underfloor heating.

Herringbone engineered wood flooring isn't resistant to water or moisture, so while you can have it in kitchens if you are careful to prevent exposure to excessive moisture, we don't recommend it. Our wood herringbone flooring is also not suitable for bathrooms. If you want to have the look of herringbone in these rooms, we have herringbone luxury vinyl or herringbone laminate floors which are waterproof.

Care and Maintenance Advice

All of our wood floors are built to last, but they still need to be looked after. To take care of your Herringbone parquet flooring, regularly sweep or vacuum your floor. Do not steam, use a wet mop, or use any abrasive materials such as scouring pads, as this may damage the floor. For more detailed care advice read our Parquet Floor Maintenance Guide.

With a range of colours and styles to choose from, it can be hard to choose the right style of floor for your room. If a wood herringbone style is for you, why not order your free samples here and we will dispatch them within 24 hours of ordering.
