All Quick-Step Floor products can be applied on underfloor heating under the conditions mentioned below. The underfloor heating in question is embedded in the subfloor consisting of heating elements with warm water or electrical resistances. Heating films installed ON the subfloor cannot be applied under laminate flooring elements. The combination of heating during the winter and cooling during the summer in the same system is for technical and physical reasons not possible with any organic floor coverings in general and with laminate floors in particular.
Additional instructions and tips.
• It is evident that the general application instructions remain valid.
• Quick-Step floors must be installed as a floating floor.
• The best choice as underfloor is one of the Quick-step underfloors. An alternative material of maximum 3mm thickness can be taken, but one has to check first its suitability for floor heating.
• Choose a Combi underlayment (plastic DPM built-in) or start with a plastic foil or sheet of minimum 0.2mm thickness on the base floor.
• In case of separate plastic sheet, try to take a single sheet, or more sheets that overlap each other by 20cm, which are taped together.
• The maximum allowed heat resistance of a floor covering is 0.15 m2. K./W(EN 4725)
The respective values for the laminate flooring and the underfloor are as per table below:

Quick-Step Transitsound as well as Quick-Step Softboard are not suitable.
• Be sure that the expansion between the floor and the wall, as well as the expansion gap around pipes, is at least 8 mm.
• Do not exceed 12m length!!!
Concrete as a base floor.
• The type and the installation of the concrete, in combination with floor heating, must be done according to the instructions of the supplier of the floor heating and of the concrete.
• In order to obtain homogeneous temperature all over the floor, the maximum distance between the heating elements is 30cm. The depth of the pipes is defined through the installation.
• The concrete must be sufficiently dry. According to the CM method, the moisture content should be<1.5%.
• Start up the heating gradually, 5°C a day, minimum 2 weeks before laying, and minimum 21 days after the installation of the concrete.
50% of the capacity during 2 weeks.
100% for the last two days.
• If the concrete is newly laid, please follow the instructions of your heating installer. A heating-up protocol must be available and should be asked for.
Heating in general.
• Turn off the heating prior to the installation. The temperature of the floor may not exceed 18°C.
• Wait at least 24h after installing to restart heating. Increase the temperature gradually, maximum 5°C a day.
• Maximum contact temperature allowed 28°C. The maximum water temperature is 50 °C.
• Always change the temperature gradually at the start, and at the end of a heating period.
• Make sure that the atmosphere in the room does not become too dry, during the heating season.
• At a temperature of 18-22 °C, the relative humidity must be between55-65 %.
• If it becomes too dry, an electrical air humidifier must be used. These precautions must be taken for every floor covering on wood bases.
• During the heating season, slightly open joints could occur and must be accepted.
• Accumulation of heat under carpet or because of insufficient ventilation under furniture must be avoided.
