Engineered hardwood flooring
Engineered hardwood flooring, also called wood construction flooring, offers the perfect flooring option for a range of business, office or home settings. Flooringsupplies.co.uk specialise in a range of engineered hardwood flooring products, making it simple for you find just the flooring you want. Engineered flooring features varied surface layers of real wood that can be sanded up to five times. Benefits include increased stability and the option to lay the engineered flooring directly onto concrete or timber subfloors without nailing. Many of our engineered flooring products also feature self-lock joints, which allows for easier flooring installation.
What is engineered hardwood flooring?
Engineered hardwood flooring consists of layered tiers of real hardwood pressed together. The real wood surface veneer layer is available in many different designs and finishes, and is also available in various thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm up to 6mm. A typical veneer is 3.6mm and can be sanded four or five times.
During the manufacturing process, the layers of real timber run in different directions. This means engineered hardwood flooring is more dimensionally stable than solid wood flooring, but identical to solid wooden flooring in appearance. Engineered wood flooring is perfect for areas of the house where solid wood flooring may not be suitable, such as basements, conservatories or over underfloor heating. Engineered hardwood flooring is also typically easier to install for the DIY customer, and offers a wider range of styles to choose from.
Flooringsupplies.co.uk engineered wood flooring products
The style or design of engineered hardwood flooring is broken down into three main sections: Plank, 2-strip and 3-strip. Other decorative designs are also available such as Herringbone, Dutch pattern or Ship’s-decking to name a few.
