A stiff wood with excellent shock resistance, birch has been used in fine furniture throughout the world. The sapwood is pale yellow, while the heartwood is light reddish brown.

Where does Birch grow?

Birch grows in the UK, most of the Northern European Countries and across many of the former Soviet States.

Colour Change:

Birch undergoes a medium degree of change over time, from freshly sanded cream to reddish yellow as it ages.
The colour on the left is the initial colour and the colour on the right is the colour after it a few months.
