Room suitability

Real wood - engineered

Engineered flooring is suitable for all areas of the home and will perform exceptionally for many years.

However, care is needed to maintain the floor in kitchens and bathrooms due to the moisture commonly found in these areas and higher humidity levels.

All engineered real wood flooring is compatible with under floor heating systems. Rules may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer for under floor heating systems so please visit the specific manufacturer’s website for both the heating system and your choice of floor for full clarification before purchasing.

Real wood - solid

Solid wooden flooring is an ideal product for most areas of the home and would literally last for centuries.

Areas we would not recommend installing a solid wooden floor with any installation method would be conservatories and basements. This is due to the excessive temperature variation and climatic conditions commonly found in these areas.

We would also advise strongly against any solid wood flooring being installed over an under floor heating system.

Like its sister product engineered flooring, solid wood is suitable for kitchens and bathrooms but care is needed to maintain the floor, again due to the climate and moisture commonly found in these areas. Laminate - Is suitable for all areas of the home due to its highly protective scratch layer, but don’t forget it’s an imitation for the real thing.

Once again care is needed to maintain the floor in kitchens and bathrooms. Laminate flooring can be easily combined with under floor heating. However, remember to choose the right under floor system and always visit the specific manufacturers’ website for full details before purchasing your floor.

LVT (Amtico / Karndean) – Luxury Vinyl Tiles

Luxury Vinyl Tiles are 100% suitable for all areas of the home. Their practicality and resilience to moisture makes them an ideal 100% waterproof option for bathrooms, kitchens or even poolside and wet room areas.

Carpet

Sourced from around the globe, natural carpets are available in Sisal, Grasses, Coir, Jute and Wool. Each range boasts different attributes and suitability.

Coir and Sisal are suitable for all areas of the home except for bathrooms & kitchens.

Jute is not as hard wearing and should only be used in bedrooms or in rooms where there is light footfall. Our Jute carpets do however have a durable Intec stain protection which performs well in the most demanding conditions.

Seagrass & Mountain grass are not suitable for stairs, kitchen & bathrooms. Wool is suitable for most areas except bathrooms and kitchens, however some Wool Boucles and large looped Sisals are not suitable for stairs as the weave opens up on the edge of the stair leaving an unattractive finish.
