Step 1 - preparing the room
- Remove skirting board if required
- Under cut the door frame if needed
- Sweep subfloor clean
Step 2 - starting line
- Scribe a straight starting line along the length of floor
- This gives you the position of the first row of tiles
Step 3 - applying double sided tape
- Adhere a 43mm wide strip of double sided tape around edge of room
- The tape must be 2” away from wall
- Apply addition strips 18” apart at regular intervals
Step 4 - laying the first planks
- Start installing your floor in the left hand corner of the room
- Leave a 1/8” gap between the planks and wall around the room perimeter
- Peel back the release paper on the double sided tape, only peel enough paper to fit a small section of planks
- Use spacers to keep the planks straight
Step 5 - using the tapping block
- Try to lay the end plank joins randomly to ensure a realistic wood effect
- Use tapping block to tighten up any gaps between each plank
- Walk on the planks ensuring that the tiles adhere to the tape and subfloor.
Step 6 - using the prybar
- Align and tighten planks to the edge of your room using a pry bar
Step 7 - continue to lay all planks
- Continue to install your floor until the last row
- Scribe the last row
- Trim to fit, leaving an 1/8" gap between the wall and the final planks
Step 8 - finishing off
- Once you have completed your room refit skirting boards
- For a neat finish use scotia beading around the room perimeter
