What is the difference between a lacquered and oiled finish?

Lacquered finish

Lacquered floors come in 3 different varieties Satin Lacquer which is a shiny reflective finish, matt lacquer which is a matt smooth finish and brushed matt lacquer which is a matt textured finish. What they all have in common is that they are sealed and water resistant (please do not get confused with being water proof).

Oiled finish

The most traditional in application and in the way it looks. Oiled floors extend the feeling of warmth that only natural wood creates. Even though more maintenance is required as you have to oil periodically (amount depending on traffic), oiled floors are great for areas that have high traffic volumes such as receptions and hallways.
