Are your carpets made from natural fibres?
Coir
Coir is full of natural character. It is made from the strong fibres of the coconut husk found in Kerala, India. The natural fibres are removed by hand and softened in sea water, so that they can be woven into a selection of designs. Coir is both durable and good value. It is available in a spectrum of golden shades from natural to bleached.
Seagrass
Seagrass grows in the tropical climates of China and Vietnam, in coastal meadows on the banks of the rivers. The natural fibre is harvested by hand, dried and hand spun into cords before being woven into flooring.
Mountain Grass
Bring the outdoors inside with Mountain Grasses, natural flooring which gives a luscious, loosely woven feel. Distinctive and durable, its charm lies in the natural irregularities and rich golden shades made from the outer fibres of the grass.
Sisal
Sisal is extracted from the Agave Sisalana plant, which is farmed in Mexico, Brazil and East Africa. This natural fibre flooring is versatile and hardwearing making it an ideal choice for hallways and stairs. Tightly woven with a subtle sheen, the natural fibres combine well with selected colours for a touch of easy glamour.
Wool Carpets
Luxurious and hardwearing, wool carpet and can be chunky and cosy or finely knitted for that contemporary feel. Tones can be warm and natural or contrasting in black and white. Pattern can be pin dot or striking stripes for feature areas within the home.
Choose from a variety of interesting weaves and natural hues, to compliment any contemporary or traditional interior, and are both luxurious and hardwearing.
Man-made carpet fibres
Man-made carpets are made from three main types of fibre. Each type of fibre has its own unique qualities, ideal for different kinds of uses and applications. The most common use of man-made fibres in in combination with natural fibres like wool known as wool mix carpets or 80/20. The benefit of this is to give you the best qualities of both. Below is a list of the most common man-made or synthetic fibres used:
- Stain resistance
- Resistant to flattening
- When choosing 80/20 twists, nylon is better than polypropylene
- Softer than wool

- Inherently stain resistant

- Can flatten in high traffic areas
- A form of plastic and is less hardwearing than nylon
